Thank you for visiting my web site.
If you think you might enjoy a compelling and thought-provoking story that combines endurance athletics and heartfelt romance, then you will absolutely love my latest novel, Kona: A Triathlon Love Story! For those of you from my home town in Southwest Michigan, you probably will recognize the people and places that inspired my story.
It’s about Jessica Sharpe, a young woman driven by a vivid nighttime dream to compete in the world championship triathlon held annually at Kona, Hawaii. She believes if she does, she will somehow reunite with her triathlete husband Robert who was lost at sea on their honeymoon, his body never recovered.
As a girl Jessica almost drowns in an ice fishing tragedy that claims the life of her father and brother, and later her mother. The experience leaves her terrified of water.
My story is about Jessica’s journey to conquer her fear of water, learn to swim and train with a close-knit group of women athletes and coaches to become an elite triathlete able to swim 2.4 miles, bike 112 miles and run 26.2 miles in record time.
Will Jessica qualify and make it to the triathlon world championship, the most challenging and prized race of all? If she does, will Kona—with its mysterious powers and spiritual energy—answer her prayers of reuniting with Robert, or will she ultimately feel life is no longer worth living without him?
Kona: A Triathlon Love Story is about unbreakable bonds of friendship, healing through community, courage, perseverance, and finally letting go to love again.
My critique group is currently reading Kona. I will let you know when it’s available!
